José Carreras Says There Will Be No More Three Tenors Concerts

There can be no Three Tenors without the late Luciano Pavarotti, says one of the two surviving members of the operatic juggernaut. José Carreras told The Australian newspaper in an interview published yesterday that there is no question of reviving the popular group with a new third member.

Tonight's performance of Gounod's Roméo et Juliette at the Metropolitan Opera marks the company's first New Year's Eve gala in five years. To celebrate, the Met is offering the public a free fireworks display — with confetti — designed by the house's own technical department.
